Four Seasons Tokyo Otemachi

Stay: February 2025

Published March 2025

One of two Four Seasons properties located in Tokyo, Four Seasons Tokyo Otemachi opened in September of 2020 and is located in the Otemachi financial area near the Imperial Palace. Conveniently located near a metro station, the hotel itself is on the 39th floor of a high rise building, allowing for magnificent views of Tokyo.

What stood out:

  • Contemporary interior design

  • Great service, including employees remembering our names at breakfast, attentive poolside assistance at the indoor pool, and thoughtful housekeeping amenities during daily room cleaning and turndown.

Booking and arrival

  • We booked using a Four Seasons Preferred Partner and took advantage of a public promotion of book 3 days, get 1 free. Booking for with a Four Seasons Preferred Partner also gave us a complementary 1 category upgrade, free breakfast, and a $100 hotel credit that is good for food or spa services.

  • The hotel is located in the Otemachi One building with the lobby located on the 39th floor. The staff on the floor level accompanied us up to the lobby for check-in.

  • Rooms are located on the 34th to 38th floors. A separate set of elevators are available to access guest rooms and not available for the public.

  • Prior to arrival, the concierge reached out to offer to assist with dining recommendations, and we were sent a PDF file with all of their dining recommendations throughout the city. They assisted in making reservations on our behalf, including restaurants that only take phone reservations and are known to be hard to get reservations for. The Four Seasons app also reflected our reservations and we were also given a printed reminder during check-in.

Room

  • We were upgraded to a Deluxe Room with city view (we initially booked a Standard Room), which offers a walk in closet. Rooms are modern, clean, with a contemporary western aesthetic. Beside the bed, there is a separate chaise lounge with a small sitting area to work.

  • The bathroom has double vanity sinks, a separate room for the toilet, and a large walk-in shower with separate tub.

  • Coffee, water, and tea is complementary. There was also complementary nuts that were refilled daily.

  • We were given a small welcome gift of oranges and sweets.

  • At the bedside there is an iPad to order room service, view restaurant menus, and also to chat with staff to ask questions or make any requests such as booking spa services or requesting housekeeping items.

  • Housekeeping did a great job with servicing our room, leaving microfiber clothes underneath all of our electronics, organizing and tying the electronic cords, and leaving notes for us with weather updates and activity recommendations.

Dining

  • All on-site dining is located on the reception level on the 39th floor.

  • Breakfast is served at Pigneto, their Japanese Italian restaurant. Views from Pigneto are breathtaking, on a clear day you are able to see Mount Fuji from the dining room. Breakfast is buffet style and you can also order an entree item off their menu, which has Asian and Western options.

  • Of note, room service is also an option for breakfast and is included in the free breakfast benefit.

  • Pigneto also has an outdoor lounge with 180 degree views of Tokyo.

Virtu

  • Virtu is the hotel bar, which was ranked in the Top 50 Bars on the World in 2024.

  • We were told that the bar gets quite busy later in the evening on most days so reservations are recommended. We arrived around 8:30-9pm on one evening and were seated right away without a reservation; we opted to sit directly at the bar.

  • The bartenders were very welcoming and spent a few minutes explaining the concept of Virtu and recommending drinks based on our preferences. I opted for one of their specialty drinks, inspired by Beauty and the Beast. The drink was beautiful, topped with a frozen rose made from frozen cranberry juice.

Other dining options

  • The Lounge offers afternoon tea, and is located right off the elevators on the reception level. There always seemed to be a good amount of people participating in afternoon tea, as the tables looked mostly full throughout the day.

  • Est is the Michelin starred French restaurant. We did not dine here during our stay.

Amenities, Activities, and Experiences

  • The indoor heated pool is located on the 39th floor and is open from 6:30am to 9:30pm. It measures 3.9 feet (1.2m) deep and 67 feet long (20m) with a reflective bottom. With floor to ceiling glass windows, the pool area offers amazing panoramic views of Tokyo, especially at night.

  • The pool area also includes mist chairs for refreshing moments between dips and a hydro-massage jacuzzi.

  • We were asked to shower/rinse off before going into the pool, also asked to wear swim cap while in the pool. Swim caps were provided. Swim caps were not needed in the jacuzzi.

  • There is plenty of seating around the pool with a small fireplace on the side and there is a pool attendant available at all times to assist.

The gym is located on the 39th floor and has a good variety of cardio and weight training equipment. Headphones are provided if needed. There are also plenty of towels, water, coffee, and snacks such as fruits and bars available. Just like the pool area, there are floor-to-ceiling glass windows that offer. panoramic views of the city.
